Yesterday we wrote on stones to answer these two questions: “God make me more…” and “God make us more…” We all filled in our words and put the stones in a basket. Later in the day, we all collected a stone that someone else had written on and committed to holding on to the stone until the next day. We imagined the person who wrote them and what matters to them; prayed for them and the heart behind these words. And continued to build community together.

As a start to the day, we were reminded of where we came from as heard the history of Toward Canada from the board. And the promise it holds for churches and individuals and we prayed for its future.

Father Joash Thomas encouraged us to be the light of the world, to bring our full light, both as churches and individuals. He emphasized not letting “empire” strip away our uniqueness, making us the same as everyone else, and taking away our light. We’re called to live out our light which is much bigger than “only” believing in Jesus. Living in the light with Theosis as a goal, that is, becoming one with Jesus.

Some of the worship was led by Paul Jensen with his guitar. Another worship session was led by a local Queer Belonging Group – Carly, Father Jordan and Peter. Together we raised our voices in loud, joyful song. The building resounded with our singing.

Today, we open again with worship led by Paul Jensen. Then we’ll have conversations with a variety of voices and speakers. We will also engage with each other on the newly developed Belonging Statement for our association.
