Sustaining Canadian Ministries

Dear Canadians, Our current CRCNA structure hinders Canadian Specific Accountability. There are several magnificent Canadian ministries: Indigenous Ministries, Intercultural Ministry, Centre for Public Dialogue, Diaconal Ministries Canada, and more (links lead to their own webpages). But while these ministries are responsive to the Canadian Ministry Board (CMB), there is no official way to direct the CMB if we feel they are steering these ministries down wrong paths. Currently, the Canadian Ministry Board answers to neither Canadian churches nor classes; they only answer to Synod. Since we as Canadian churches fund ministry in Canada, it is time that we have structural control over what direction they are going; control not only at the time of appointing new classical and at-large delegates. As folks interested in the flourishing, sustainable future of the Canadian CRC, may we suggest that where you can, engage the CMB member in your Classis concerning their work for the Canadian CRC; it’s safe to assume that each of them has the good of the Canadian CRCs at heart. In the conversation, consider particularly the six key points made in the Moving Together Toward a CRC in Canada: A Call to Action document (linked below); those describe how an autonomous Canadian CRC will positively impact our local and national ministries. Engagement can be by phone, face-to-face, or email, whatever works best for you. We included their names below to help you get started. Attached to this link is the one-page summary of the Moving Together Toward a CRC in Canada: A Call to Action.   Thank you all for your support, Blessings, Peter Bulthuis, for TCRCC
