From 11 of the 11 ½ classes in Canada, Canadians are registering for the days of learning, planning and worship in Kitchener, November 5-9. The Summit will be a place and time during which we can lament what’s been lost and look forward in hope to what can be; a place and time where varieties of opinions are heard and tested; where learning and growing together will be highlighted; where conversations steeped in prayer, Scripture and the Reformed tradition will be central.
The schedule of activities is available here. There will be two tracks at the Summit:
-
Track 1: Workshops A through E will feature learning opportunities specific to the Summit attendees;
-
Track 2: Workgroups throughout the days will discuss what kind of network can emerge out of the individual churches that have disaffiliated or are discerning their futures. There will also be times that the workgroups will interact with the track 1 folks for feedback.
In all, plenty of opportunities for deep discussion, hearty collaboration, and grace-filled next steps.
Both tracks will be framed by our gifted speakers and leaders:
Wilma van der Leek: Doing the spiritual practice of communal discernment, with all its challenges and possibilities.
Dr. Melanie Humphreys: Cultivating a community at The King’s University that is both diverse and welcoming.
Rev. Paul Verhoef: Oh, the places you'll go following the way of love.
Mr. Shiao Chong: God with Us: A Christianity Canada Needs.
A common theme? The wonder, joys and challenges of diversity in the church of Jesus Christ.
Jeremy Benjamin Zeyl will lead us in worship throughout the Summit. Angela Bick will lead a workshop. And this just in: Pastor Laura de Jong will lead our worship service at 10:30 am on Sunday morning at Waterloo CRC!
