The Summit. Just under two weeks away. Nov. 5-9. The collaborative start of the conversation about a fellowship that is curious, compassionate and courageous. The continuation of discernment for many people and many churches. Wanting something more widely embracing, more authentic, more honest, even more vulnerable.
The official purposes of the Summit are:

Provide comfort and inspire hope for those who are grieving what’s been lost,

Dream and plan for the future by establishing a new denomination or federation or network,
-
Enable the creation of a new Board, entrusted with the mandate to lay the foundation of a new kind of community composed of Reformed churches across Canada.
What that means to me: we will look with sadness, yet without resentment at what’s being left, and look ahead with joy and hope at what can be: churches in fellowship, living into local authority AND community.
Planning for the Summit is virtually complete! We are ready! Conversations, lodging, worship, program, speakers, food, learning opportunities: all in place. The planning teams continue to iron out last minute details. All the folks working on this are filled with the Spirit, buoyed by the knowledge that this Summit, these plans, these dreams, are necessary at this time. Necessary for the church to flourish.
