Toward Canada Working Retreat – June 18–21, 2026

An invitation to churches across Canada

This event has concluded. To read the daily newsletter reports from the Retreat, start here: Working Retreat Convening – Day 1 | Toward CRC Canada

Toward Canada invites churches to participate in a working retreat focused on shaping the future of a developing network of Reformed congregations across Canada.

This gathering will take place June 18–21, 2026, beginning with dinner on the evening of June 18 and concluding with a closing worship service on June 21. The retreat will be held at Mount Mary Retreat Centre in Ancaster, Ontario, link: www.mountmary.ca

Purpose of the Retreat

This will be a working retreat, designed to move us into the next phase of shared life and mission together.

Through a facilitated process aimed at encouraging broad participation and clarity, we will build on the good work done at last year’s All-Canada Summit held in Kitchener, by more carefully defining the foundational statements, the structure and the culture of this emerging network. Our time will focus on questions such as:

  • Where is God calling us to go together?
  • Who are we seeking to become as a network of churches?
  • What will it look like to embody that identity in practice?

This is an opportunity for churches not only to participate, but to help shape what comes next.

Who Is Invited

This invitation is extended to churches. Attendees should be appointed by the leadership of their church.

Two categories of participating churches are invited:

  • Catalyst Churches
May send three delegates, who will participate in discernment and decision-making (by vote or consensus) alongside the seven-member Toward Canada Board.
Catalyst churches are encouraged to consider including a younger leader as one of their delegates.
  • Observer Churches
May send one representative, who will participate fully in all discussions and activities.

All participants—Catalyst and Observer—will share equally in the life and work of the retreat, with the distinction applying only when decisions are formalized.

Financial Support and Expectations

Toward Canada is making a significant investment to enable participation:

  • All on-site costs (lodging and meals) will be fully covered
  • Travel support: Churches requiring air travel may apply for reimbursement assistance

Because of this investment, and the importance of continuity in our shared work, participants are asked to commit to the full duration of the retreat.

Capacity

This will be a smaller, working gathering, not a large-scale event like the All Canada Summit. Space is limited, and churches are encouraged to register early.

Registration & Information

  • Registration forms were emailed to all Catalyst and Observer Churches, please get in touch if you didn’t receive the form.
  • Registration deadline: Saturday, May 30, 2026
