Like many synods before it, Synod 2022 attempted to clarify the place of Canada within the Christian Reformed Church in North America, this time laying out the relationship in an Ecclesiastical Mandate Letter (Acts of Synod 2022, pp. 718-721). “As an ecclesiastical partner, CRCNA Canada is responsible,” the letter says, to “transact those matters assigned by Synod as it seeks to further its mission and ministry in Canada … contribute to the formation, development, implementation, and evaluation of the CRCNA Ministry Plan … (and) establish and operate the Canada Office of the CRCNA.
